Every year in the summer months the listed monastery-yard in Feuchtwangen in Bavaria accommodates an outdoor theatre. By means of a movable and removable roof construction the grandstand is to be protected of bad weather conditions. The roof surface is divided into seven individual lamellas with approximately 20 m length and 2.50 m width, made out of glass- fibre reinforced plastic with carbon-fibre inlays. The lamellas are connected by a coupling member system and rest on rails. In each rail carrier is a wire drive, which drives the first lamella via a speed reducer. The specific kinematical geometry enables concurrent operations, moving and gradually erecting the lamellas, with one drive.
