Project

Located directly on the banks of the Neckar River within the 'Zukunftspark Wohlgelegen', stands Heilbronn's Innovation Factory 2.0. The five-story timber-hybrid building offers bright and light-filled office spaces for technology-oriented startups, co-working spaces, and innovative companies. Rooms of various sizes are arranged seamlessly around a central atrium and communication zones on the galleries, fostering collaboration and creativity. The characteristic load-bearing timber facade allows for flexible room layout and ensures durability for long-term use and adaptability for future needs.

Facade planning

The double facade with the distinctive load-bearing timber-like framework serves multiple functions. The inner facade layer forms the thermal envelope and consists of a floor to ceiling wood window wall with operable vents. The outer skin, serving as both sound and weather protection for the timber structure, is built as a two-side-supported stick façade with timber framing. The cavity between inner and outer façade is interrupted by a bulkhead plate on each floor for fire safety and thermal reasons.
