What does the application process look like and what steps can be expected?

Once we receive an application, it is reviewed by the management and we promptly follow up. The first interview is often more of a casual introductionin which we show applicants our office and work and discuss of typical work assignments and mutual expectations. Often, a follow-up interview is held to discuss salary and employment details before the employment contract is signed.

We are a dynamic and diverse team and we value open communication and mutual respect. Everyone is welcome to bring forth ideas and criticism. We want to develop the office together.

First of all, we offer part-time positions in practically all disciplines. In this way the individual workload can be set according to each employee’s personal situation. We have flextime in the office, generally all employees should be in the office or reachable in the core hours from 9:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 (until 12:00 on Fridays). Oustdie of these core hours, employees are free to adjust their working time but must meet the agreed upon total hours for the week. We try to avoid overtime by closely monitoring the weekly workload and redistributing it when necessary. If overtime is necessary, it can be made up for by time off or compensated. At knippershelbig, all hours worked are paid. We consider presence in the office and personal interaction between colleagues important. There is nevertheless the option of remote work as well.

There is no fixed rule; we have very small and very large projects. Typically, project teams are tailored to each project, and we ensure that different skills and experiences team members complement each other.

We have around 500 completed and ongoing projects and can draw on a vast wealth of knowledge. Our main areas of focus are in Central Europe and North America, but we also work in the Far East and Africa. Our portfolio ranges from large infrastructure projects in China to cultural buildings and from clay construction projects to art installations.

In addition to internal training, all employees receive an allowance for continuing education. Long-term training opportunities and other ares of professional development are also discussed during the annual employee review.

knippershelbig maintains a flat organizational structure. The management consists of three managing directors, branch managers, as well as other colleagues who take on central management assigments within the office. We consciously refrain from addition layers and departments within the hierarchy to foster a team-oreinted approach. The organization is open to everyone allowing any idividual to reach any position within the office.
