By exploring current research topics in our practical work, we examine the applications of new material and material combinations in the development of emission- and resource-efficient structural and façade projects. Our work investigates innovative design and fabrication technologies at the intersection of research and practical application.
We collaborate closely with universities and network of industry partners to apply these concepts. The application and implementation of innovative concepts is fundamental to our approach to project design as we foster the development of inventive solutions in the planning process.

3D Printing: Application of 3D printing technologies for the production of steel nodes for grid shell structures as part of a research collaboration with Jansen, TU Delft, and MG Metalltechnik GmbH.
Integral Solid Wood Bridges: Development of durable integral wooden bridges as part of a research project initiated in 2013 in collaboration with architects, timber construction experts, and specialized companies.
Clay: Planning, development, and technical supervision of modern clay constructions, including sound barriers, the Alnatura Working World in Darmstadt, and the new Weleda Logistics Campus in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
Textile Concrete: Material development, structural analysis, and construction of the world’s first completely steel-free, or exclusively carbon fiber-reinforced concrete bridge. (Client: Solidian / Albstadt)
Bamboo: Development of sustainable panel materials with a core layer made of bamboo rings for wall and ceiling structures. Creation of suitable calculation models and analysis and testing of material. Participation in research projects with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, Dunkel Toolmaking, and Cordes Timber Construction.
Cold Cast Ceramic: Development and completion of glass fiber-reinforced phosphate ceramic, investigation of material behavior, and mechanical properties in the course of the renovation of the State Opera in Berlin.
Fiber-Reinforced Composites (GFRP, CFRP): Design, development and completion of numerous projects using fiber-reinforced composites, including Europe’s first steel-glass fiber-reinforced plastic composite bridge. Contributing to new guidelines for construction with fiber-reinforced plastics and their incorporation into the Eurocode, as well as expert assessments and engineering reviews.
Frameless glass structures: Development of all-glass constructions with stainless steel fittings as a fully-fledged thermal building envelope. Glastec 2022 for Eastman, ZIM research project with TU Darmstadt and Yachtglas.
