Campus building with a rammed earth façade and a wide-span timber roof

Project

The Alnatura Campus in Darmstadt combines a healthy, modern living and working environment with the highest standards of sustainable construction. On the 55,000 m² former Kelley Barracks site, a workspace, a kindergarten, a Super-Naturmarkt, and a temporary bike and utility building have been developed. The centerpiece of the campus is the three-story, light-filled Alnatura workspace. This spacious environment for relaxation, learning, and interaction is defined by traditional natural building materials, wood and rammed earth. Particularly striking are the self-supporting rammed earth façades on the north and south sides, currently the largest two-layer rammed earth façades in Europe.
