Steel building complex with three relief-like glass facades
Project
The building was originally designed in the 1950s as an 8-storey-high reinforced concrete structure on a floor area of approximately 125 x 75 m. As part of a complete refurbishment three signature folded glass facades (side masks, main mask) with rhombic, overlapping glazing panels were installed. Although the glass panes overlap they must still provide effective thermal insulation. To achieve this a complex clamp joint detail had to be developed. The main facade, which is deeply integrated into the building, also forms the roof of the entrance hall.
