The entirely white building envelope is dominated by the horizontal window stripe and the reflective sheet metal bottom view. All facades are optimized in terms of thermal properties and all detailing is due to cost optimization and adaption to local market conditions. In order to make maximum use of the facade budget all opaque facades have been optimized in terms of cost through a intense value engineering process. This allows to achieve high quality standards for all visual glass components. Structural glazing for the window stripe and post and mullion free glazing for all other facades allow for a high grade of transparency. In various locations i.e. next to fire curtain walls complex fire protection conditions had to be evaluated and solutions without visual effect were to be developed. For the planetarium sphere a fiber reinforced ceramic cladding is foreseen and it is intended to be manufactured seamlessly on site. The material is used as EI120 fire protection and allows for a perfectly smooth and joint free glossy surface.
