New residential quarter in Bremen built using solid timber construction
Project
The Stephanitor Süd residential quarter forms part of the Überseeinsel development area in Bremen. The Stephanitor Süd project comprises the construction of five residential and commercial buildings (Buildings 5 to 9). Felgendreher Olfs Köchling have been commissioned with the design of Buildings 5 and 7, while allmannwappner are responsible for Buildings 6, 8, and 9. Both design concepts rely on solid timber construction using cross-laminated timber elements, with columns and beams made of glued laminated timber or BauBuche. The circulation cores, which provide structural bracing, are planned as reinforced-concrete structures.
