New Amur Tiger habitat with visitor tunnel l and visitor shelters
Project
A new 5,000 m² facility with a five-metre security fence has been created at Wilhelma Stuttgart for the endangered Amur tiger. Three spacious outdoor enclosures, an open stable and six indoor dens provide ample space and retreat areas. The hillside design with caves, hideouts and water features creates a natural habitat. Three timber shelters and a reinforced-concrete visitor tunnel offer impressive views, while a 900 m³ water cistern and rooftop photovoltaics support sustainable operation.
