Multi-storey residential building in timber hybrid construction at Hamburg's Baakenhafen

Project

The We-House Baakenhafen concept combines the demand for ecological construction with modern forms of communal living. On seven floors, 54 residential units with an area of 3,800 m² are planned, plus commercial and communal areas. The metamorphosis principle includes two polar façade concepts, solar façades with PV integration facing south towards Baakenallee and façades with extensive greenery in front of carbonized timber cladding. The ecologically holistic impression also includes a wooded roof and a rooftop greenhouse.

Seven-storey solid timber building in sustainable and life cycle-optimized construction

Structural Design
The planned supporting structure is to be an innovative and sustainable timber hybrid building with glue-free solid timber exterior walls and concrete ceilings generated from recycled and waste materials. Bracing is provided by 2 robust reinforced concrete cores. The load-bearing structure was clearly separated between rigid inner reinforced concrete columns and soft timber walls. In the ground floor restaurant area, a board stacked ceiling with wooden supports is planned.
