Administrative building in timber hybrid construction with green facades
Project
Commissioned by the public real estate developer Sprinkenhof, Hamburg will see the construction of Germany's largest administrative building in timber-hybrid construction, covering a total area of 34,000 square meters. The pilot project is being developed on the narrow site of the so-called Wandsbeker Zollinsel and will provide space for 800 workstations. The elongated building mass is segmented into eight sub-volumes through setbacks, recesses, and varying façades, some of which are greened, creating a more fragmented appearance. The building is designed using a timber-hybrid construction method. Only the basement, foundation, cores, and firewalls are made of reinforced concrete. The floor slabs consist of slim cross-laminated timber (CLT) elements, supported by beams and columns made of glued-laminated timber.
