Swing Time is a temporary public installation designed by Höweler + Yoon Architecture. It consists of 20 ring-shaped swings supported on a minimalist steel frame. The polypropylene rings are glowing at night and the light color is changing according to the motion of the swing creating a unique and visually stunning artwork. It was installed in September 2014 in Boston between the exhibition center, D street and the convention.
Knippers Helbig assisted Höweler + Yoon with the structural design of the installation and developed specific details to fit the architects’ design wishes and the tight schedule for the project fabrication and installation. The frame has been designed to be modular, easy to transport and quick to install.
