Norwegian Pavilion
The Norwegian Architects Helen + Hard have planned a temporary pavilion for the World Exposition in Shanghai, which can easily be dismantled after the Expo, relocated and reinstalled for different purposes. The supporting structure consists of 15 individual, prefabricated timber model trees, each one of them spanning a membrane of Gore Tenara fabric, which is fi xed at four points. The tree-supports carry 2,500 sqm of membrane surface in total and have a span of 11m. A second layer within the timber construction consists of bamboo boards. Air conditioning, water and energy supply, lighting and all technical installations are integrated in between the layers. The prefabrication of the tree-supports enable a quick assembly and dismantling of the temporary building. A resource conserving material use has been put into practise by using light weight and partially renewable materials.
