In cooperation with Collignon Architects Berlin, knippershelbig is planning the development of the 'Marienhöfe' urban district, which covers approx. 10 hectares and is located between the districts of 'Tempelhof' and 'Steglitz'. The design of the site is supposed to meet the city's needs in terms of sustainable housing, commerce, social services, e.g. daycare and refugee accommodation, and green spaces. Modern, diverse commercial space, an urban element with a green space, park and neighborhood squares and, above all, new rental apartments are to be built there. The housing will be tied to the Berlin model of cooperative building land development. The creation of craftsmen's yard, an innovation center, a medical center, additional offices and administrative space are planned, as well as businesses for general local supply. Theplanning provides for a contemporary open space concept, with meeting point for recreation, play and leisure areas. The development consists of 21 buildings on a site area of approx. 100,000 sqm and a floor area of approx. 170,000 sqm. The site area is underbuilt by a 1-storey underground car park. The construction is a solid construction with partly pre-fabricated timber frame walls.
