Veterans Center at Syracuse University with different kinds of Curtain Wall Systems

Project

The National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC) at Syracuse University is a groundbreaking hub dedicated to serving over 40,000 veterans and their families annually. Home to the Institute for Veterans and Military Families and allied organizations, the NVRC provides spaces for learning, collaboration, and community engagement, including classrooms, offices, and a public gallery. Its 750-seat auditorium hosts lectures, community events, and national gatherings. Reflecting Syracuse University’s historic commitment to veterans since 1944, the NVRC fosters accessibility, wellbeing, and connection, offering a shared home for veteran-focused programs that honor the past while shaping the future.

Unitized Curtain wall with Shadow Boxes and external Features in the upper floors, large span unitized façade on ground level

Facade Design
The upper floors are clad with a modular aluminum façade, featuring a transparent central section and Shadow Boxes in the upper and lower areas. As an architectural design element, aluminum extrusion profiles were screwed onto the façade profiles from the outside, creating an interesting effect in combination with the reflections of the façade. The double-height ground floor is equipped with large-format façade elements. Additionally, there is an interior courtyard on the top floor, which is shaded by a horizontal louver structure.
