Existing building received a new double skin façade with approximately 1,500 motorized windows
Project
A former library from the 1960s on the University of Calgary campus was extensively renovated and converted into modern office spaces. Three additional floors were added to the existing building. The original structure was equipped with an innovative double façade, which, in combination with sensors and a central control system, allows the building to "breathe." This system enables the use of solar heat gains during the heating season, while in the warmer months, shading and night cooling help dissipate excess heat from the space between the façades.
