Freudenberg Training Center
The two-story building with external dimensions of approx. 65×20 m has a height of approx. 10 m. It is divided into training, workshop, and office areas with a total gross floor area of approx. 2,600 m². To provide the user with maximum flexibility in expansion work or future conversions, the main supporting structure was designed as a reinforced concrete frame structure with two cores and individual bracing wall sections. Along the facade, a grid of 1.25 m is used for the shell of the building in order to achieve the slimmest possible supports at the facade level. The roof structure, designed as a wooden rib construction, reprises the slatted structure of the facade and connects directly to the facade supports. The low self-weight, reduced live as well as superimposed dead loads, and minor demands on the vibration behavior of the roof structure allow for the implementation of a cost-effective and sustainable support structure. The building will rest on a foundation of strip footing and centering beams. The floor plate is not designed to be load-bearing.
