Pioneering integral timber bridge with high recognition value
Project
The FRANKLIN footbridge provides Mannheim with a direct, safe, and barrier-free crossing of the B38 federal highway for cyclists and pedestrians. This bridge is more than a simple piece of infrastructure; it seamlessly connects the two districts while creating a continuous landscape with unique qualities at its connection points. The bridge and ramp structure is an independently and sustainably developed engineering project. Renewable timber serves as the primary load-bearing material, while innovative carbon-reinforced concrete is used for the walking surface and secondary structural elements.
