Part of a greater revitalization project along the waterfront of new york city's outer borough , Knippers Helbig designed with BIG architects together a new section of parkland in form of a massive wood-clad triangular viewing platform that doubles as a prime spot for events as well as sitting and strolling. The design is a sweeping plane with a lifted corner. Sited for optimal views of the Manhattan skyline as well as the statue of liberty, the 3000 square foot structure will work in conjunction with the park designed by Michael van Valkenburg. The construction is a massive timber platform resting on 10 slender columns.
