The organic supermarket chain Alnatura has planed an office building with conference facilities and a restaurant for a total of approx. 500 employees. In addition, a kindergarten, an organic supermarket, a temporary cycle and equipment shed were erected on the campus at a later stage. The building with external dimensions of approx. 91.4 x 41 m has three floors of office and usable space totaling approx. 10,000 m². The main structure has been designed as a reinforced concrete frame and cores. Due to the curved shape of the interior slab edges, a completely regular building grid cannot be achieved. The building is largely designed for the optimal use of daylight. The timber double pitched roof with its asymmetrical ridge directs north lighting only into the atrium. Sustainability has played a central role in the planning of the project. Intelligent use of renewable building materials (timber roof structure and rammed earth walls for the north and south facades) as well as recyclable materials have contributed to an almost carbon-neutral building.
